Nikkor 24-70mm
NIKKOR Z 24–70mm f/2.8 S
This is the lens I use more than any other. While longer lenses are often seen essential for wildlife photography, the 24–70mm is the lens that captures the moments where the strongest connection and sense of place emerge.
It allows me to move quickly between perspectives - from wider environmental scenes to tighter, more intimate compositions —-without breaking the flow of a situation. Many of the images that carry the most power from an expedition are made in this range, where subject and environment exist together in the frame.
The constant f/2.8 aperture provides excellent low-light performance and control over depth of field, while the optical performance remains consistently sharp across the zoom range. It is built as a professional workhorse - dependable, versatile, and capable of handling a wide range of situations.
In practical terms, this lens earns its place because it allows me to document not just wildlife, but the full atmosphere and experience of being in the field.

Why It Earns Its Place in My Field Kit
Wildlife photography is often thought of in terms of long lenses and distant subjects. But some of the most powerful images happen when you can work closer and reveal the relationship between the animal and its environment.
The 24–70mm is the lens that allows me to do that. It is the most used lens in my kit and the one I rely on whenever a scene demands both proximity and context.
